What is Ultrasonic Pest Control?Ultrasonic pest control is the repelling of unwanted pests who frequent your garden (or home!). Ultrasonic controllers do not harm the soil by putting anything into it and so could help anyone looking for an organic pest control system. Instead, an ultrasonic control system uses a motion sensor to pick up movement of pests, small such as bugs, or larger such as squirrels and possum, and then once detected, the sensor emits a noise ultrasonically which is inaudible to humans, but not to the pests it’s there to deter. Controlling pests in the garden can be a difficult task for some gardeners, especially in more rural settings. The pests are more numerous there, and usually come in all sizes. A pest controller which can take care of these without damaging the land would save time and energy. Each ultrasonic device has a specified area that it claims to cover, depending on its make and model. This means that you could need several ultrasonic devices if your garden, or piece of land, is large. Does it Work? There are some experts who say yes ultrasonic controllers help with pest control and some who disagree. There have been warnings issued by the FDA about the reliability of the advertising claims of some of these ultrasonic devices. Aside from any models that don’t work as they claim, experts also say that in some cases, pests such as rodents, can adjust so that they become immune to the ultrasonic sound. As with all things of this nature, it’s best to consult a reputable gardening supplies merchant who has an independent expert on hand to advise which methods of pest control are best for your particular garden. It could be for the type of garden you have, and the kind of pest you need to control, there are more efficient ways of organically controlling your pests. |
