Plant containers are useful for starting seeds - whether as greenhouse equipment or inside the house

Plant containers come in all shapes and sizes. The smaller ones are often considered greenhouse equipment, but they are great for starting seeds indoors as well. Plant containers can also be used for growing some vegetables right through the season. They are often available from greenhouse equipment suppliers for less than your local garden shop.

If you’re looking for plant containers, greenhouse equipment catalogs and websites often have a great selection. They carry all kinds of greenhouse supplies, but pots and trays are useful with or without a greenhouse. You can get sheet pots, larger pots, carrying trays and more through these suppliers.

Plant containers are often part of the greenhouse equipment included in a kit.

If you’re buying a greenhouse kit, check to see whether any plant containers come with it before buying more. These kits usually come with all the basic greenhouse equipment you’ll need to get started.

If you’re not looking for a large number of plant containers, you might even be able to get some for little or nothing from your local gardeners supply shop. They use a lot of them in their growing activities, and sometimes they are willing to include some pots or trays with your purchase. They buy their greenhouse equipment in much larger quantities, so the relative value to them is a lot lower. If you have a good relationship with your local garden shop, it never hurts to ask.

We’ve got some recommended sources for plant containers, and other greenhouse equipment, on our garden accessories page.
