Learning About Organic Land Care

Organic gardeners are only a small part of organic food production and living. Organic land care takes a wider view than just ensuring organic gardening supplies are used to help your fruit and vegetables grow healthily.

Whilst it’s important for gardeners to take an interest in the overall health of their garden, and to use organic pesticides and fertilizers, but there’s more to it than that. Someone who has studied organic care of the land will know about how all the organisms of the land interact together, and understands how to use this natural ecosystem to its best advantage.

By organic gardening, you are doing your bit to ensure a healthier crop, a healthier soil and have a more environmentally friendly garden. However, those who organically care for the land, as opposed to their garden, are concerned with the bigger picture. They don’t just want organic tomatoes grown in fertilizer from an organic compost heap in the back garden. They want to ensure that the land as a whole is protected from chemicals and over-use.

Get Involved with Caring for the Land Organically

You don’t need to be an expert in landscaping or gardening in order to take an interest in organically caring for the land. All you need is the will to learn. Start with your library and see what books you can find in the computer about it. Check out the Internet, and see what the professionals in this field are doing. Attend any lectures they give in your area. Chat with experts at your gardening supplies store, or local garden nursery. Then see how you can be more proactive.

Perhaps giving talks to your local horticultural society, or writing articles for your newspaper, or teaching the younger generation of its importance. The land is there for us to protect, and that’s what these organic carers are trying to do.
