Organic Herbs - Planting an Herb Garden the Organic WayOrganic herbs may seem like a redundant idea. Anyone who appreciates the tastes and scents of a natural herb garden would of course want to keep their herbs organic, right? Well, some gardeners may not be giving a great deal of thought to the growing process. Herbs can be used for food, medicine, fragrance, or ornamental purposes. Organic herbs are frequently used in food and medicines. An herb garden that is grown without the addition of any chemicals or pesticides will keep the pureness and quality of the herbs. It’s only logical to want purity in items that are ingested to be of highest quality. Organic Herbs - Starting an Herb GardenMany herb growers start out small, with containers of herbs on a windowsill. A gardener will often choose the herbs that are most likely to be used in cooking: Basil, Oregano, Thyme, Chives, Mint, and Rosemary. As you watch these herbs grow and appreciate the delicious flavor they add to food, you may consider expanding your efforts: Lemon Grass, Lavender, Sage, and all the wonderful scented herbs. Not uncommonly, gardeners soon seek out organic herbs and organic herb seeds for their plants. An herb garden can be carved out of small plots of land. If you wish to use organic herbs in cooking, for teas or for perfumes, order certified organic seeds or seedlings from a quality seed company or grower. Remember to give yourself enough time to receive them before planting a garden. |
