The National Gardening Association

For gardeners who thought they knew everything about gardening

Although Americans consistently rank gardening as a favorite hobby, many lack the knowledge needed to be successful gardeners. There’s much to know. And always many changes to keep up with. That’s why many gardeners rely on the resources of the National Gardening Association to supply them with the latest knowledge about gardening and farming.

The association provides the gardening tools, tips and the technologies, as well as unbiased recommendations for the best garden accessories to support many different types of gardening. The association is dedicated to making gardening an enjoyable, satisfying, and environmentally responsible activity for all its members.

NGA works to promote healthy plants, lawns and gardens. And gardeners

The association supports the accepted medical anomaly that healthy plants and gardens help promote the mental and physical health of their gardeners. Plants apparently have the power to change our lives. They enable the simple and therapeutic pleasure of working in one’s own garden, play a role in providing clean air and serve as a nutritious basis for healthy living.

The National Gardening Association also offers aid and support in these areas:

  • Community Development- rebuild neighborhoods, instill community pride, build self-esteem, and re-humanize urban environments
  • Websites- biweekly reports for 12 growing zones; articles, FAQ, how-to projects; planting guides; horticultural news; online gardening courses and garden industry research
  • Garden Smart Weekly PBS TV Show- gardener experts introduce viewers to plants in their gardens, along with tips on how viewers can grow them
  • Grow Lab Activities for Growing Minds- a K-8 inquiry-based curriculum that uses plants and gardens as educational tools to help students learn about science and the environment
  • Gardens For All- after-school, weekend, and community service garden projects focusing on reconnecting people to plants and gardening
