A mini greenhouse can be a simple lean-to outside or a greenhouse window if you have one. You can even make your own mini greenhouse out of empty pop bottles. If you don’t have a greenhouse window, this can be a great way to start your seeds indoors.

A mini greenhouse can range in size from an empty 2L pop bottle to a larger but still portable greenhouse. If you have a greenhouse window in your home, that may be all you need.

You can make a mini greenhouse out of empty pop bottles and turn any window into a greenhouse window.

To make a mini greenhouse out of an empty 2L pop bottle, start by cutting off the bottom of the bottle. If you haven’t already done it, remove the label and the cap. The plastic bottle will act like a greenhouse window so you want to make sure all the labels are off.

Next, put the empty bottle over your seedling and push the bottle down into the soil, far enough to hold it in place. Green bottles are the best choice for this mini greenhouse but if you only have clear ones, punch some holes in them. Clear bottles get quite a bit hotter and can overheat your plants if they aren’t properly vented. You can then put these on your windowsill and get the same benefits as from a greenhouse window.

When you’re planting a garden, buying bulk flower seeds can save some money. Even if you have limited space a mini greenhouse or greenhouse window will let you start your seeds early enough to have them ready for planting time.
