Herb plants can be grown in very small spaces unlike most larger vegetable plants

Herb plants are great when you want fresh herbs for cooking. Unlike many vegetable plants, they can be grown in small spaces such as a greenhouse window. You can even get herb plants in mini greenhouses that can be grown almost anywhere. Try that with other vegetable plants like tomatoes or cucumbers!

If you use a lot of herb plants in your cooking, herb gardening can be a great way to have fast, easy access to fresh herbs. Plants such as basil, cilantro, mint and parsley are just a few of the flavorful herbs you can use in your cooking. And unlike a lot of vegetable plants, herbs can be dried for storing.

Herb plants can also be grown with the rest of your vegetable plants.

You can use herb plants as decoration around your other vegetable plants. Because they're small, herbs can be planted around other vegetables without worrying about them blocking the sun. They can be an attractive ground cover, and some are quite fragrant.

Wherever you decide to plant your herbs, they are a great addition to your other vegetable plants. But if you grow them inside, you won't even have to put on your garden boots to go pick some! Take a look at our seed companies page for our recommended sources for herb seeds and plants.
