Growing Corn In Your Very Own Vegetable Garden

Corn was originally grown by the Native American Indians. And although you may not know it, corn comes in many shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors. Many of these varieties are available through a good plant catalog. The best time of the season for growing corn is at the end of August or September. When you plant seed corn in your vegetable garden, make sure you soak them in water first, leaving them immersed overnight, and then planting the seeds early in the morning. In addition, usually if you plan to grow several rows of corn then it is a good idea to group them together. When growing corn, you also need to make sure that the rows are a good distance apart so the individual stalks have room to grow in the vegetable garden. Most people plant in rows, but some do prefer planting corn in circles.

When Growing Corn Ensure That The Vegetable Garden Is Well-Tended

Your personal cornfield should be well laden with comfrey, manure, liquid fertilizers, compost, and any other ingredients that corn adores. Also, be sure to put up posts to shield your growing corn from the winds that might rush through your vegetable garden. Corn is very sensitive to wind, so this is a precaution that will help your crop flourish.
