Garden Pictures and Art for Your Home

Many garden lovers find that decorating their homes with garden pictures is a way to bring the freshness of the outdoors into the home. In addition to indoor plants, garden pictures and art give a breath of nature to the home, even in the wintertime.

While vegetable gardening offers many themes for garden art, fine gardening is also a rich source of exotic and elegant flowers, all of which make for attractive pictures in any room of your house or office.

Lots of Garden Pictures Out There, or Make Your Own

Seed companies, especially those in past days, exerted time and effort to make their floral seed packets into little works of art. If you can find antique packets or ones you like today in seed magazines, you can make a collage with the packets or frame a particularly nice one. You may want to cut just the cover off so the paper lies flat.

Boutiques, garden supply stores, art galleries, and framing shops are all sources of fine garden pictures. Flowers, throughout the ages, have been a favorite subject of art and garden pictures. The variety of floral pictures available from stores and art dealers can be overwhelming.

Another popular theme of garden pictures, especially in 18th and 19th century art, is the gardener or farmer working in the field—a pastoral scene from a particular time period.

Another idea is to freeze-dry or simply dry some favorite blooms and frame them. Be sure to visit a craft store and get the necessary materials to preserve the bloom in a picture. You can also just press a flower between heavy books to create a keepsake picture.

Be sure to keep the garden picture away from direct sunlight or bright indoor light. This will help retain the flower’s color for a longer time. Finally, if your collection of garden pictures is big enough, rotate your pictures with the seasons.
