The Garden Hose Reel Keeps Your Hose in Check

We’ve all cursed and fought with a tangled hose. We’ve grumbled over excessive kinks. We’ve lamented leaks and spent time and money fixing them or buying a new hose. It’s quite silly that we let our blood pressure get so high when a relatively inexpensive tool can greatly reduce our hose frustrations: the garden hose reel.

With the endless variety of garden tools available to us, it can be overwhelming to choose which ones we need over which ones we want. A hose reel will always fall into that first category: necessities. Garden supplies can easily break your budget, but make sure that, along with your shovels and hoes and the hose itself, you purchase a good, sturdy reel.

Your Investment Pays Off

Hose reels aren’t expensive. Often, they cost less than the hose itself. But keeping the hose on a reel will dramatically extend the life and performance of the hose. A hose that sits on the ground all the time is subject to unnecessary stresses. It gets smashed, stepped on, driven over, nibbled, baked, frozen… A reel keeps the hose off the ground, safe from these damaging effects, and a portable reel will allow you to bring hoses in during extreme weather.

A hose on the ground tends to get pushed and dragged around when it’s in the way. And it’s almost always in the way! After several pushes, a hose gets knotted. Knots, over time, form small creases which can cause a hose to kink more easily than normal. And hose kinks are so annoying!

Even worse, the more often a hose kinks, the greater the chance it has of developing a leak. Then you have to patch or replace.

Your garden hose is one of the most important gardening tools in your yard. Keep it in great shape with a hose reel. If you have several hoses, get several reels! Your brain and wallet will be glad you did.
