Little Gems: Choosing Cherry Tomatoes and How to Grow Tomatoes

Tomatoes are one of the easiest plants to grow and one of the best reasons to grow cherry tomatoes is that they ripen on the vine into juicy little gems much faster than full-sized tomatoes. If you know how to grow tomatoes, you can easily grow cherry tomatoes: remember to water them regularly for juicy fruit and give them plenty of sun. You can also get heirloom varieties and even smaller pearl or grape tomatoes. If you already know how to grow tomatoes, you should also be familiar with tomato cages; cherry tomatoes will also benefit from some staking or cages made from a small-gauge wire.

You Can Grow Cherry Tomatoes If You Know How to Grow Tomatoes

Just like regular tomatoes, seed starting is an important part of growing cherry tomatoes. You can start your seeds indoors for a head start, but planting the seeds in the soil after the last frost works just as well. Cherry tomatoes are great because they are good plants for container gardening. After the plants are growing and yellow flowers start to sprout, expect tomatoes in about a week. The fruit is ready to pick when it is glossy and the color is even and bright. Remember, if you know how to grow tomatoes, you can grow cherry tomatoes!
