Better Homes and Gardens Magazine - Seeds of Joy

Since 1922, Better Homes and Gardens magazine has brought vital information, new trends, and great ideas to its readers. The magazine is versatile enough to accommodate everyone from gardeners looking for seeds to housewives dreaming up new kitchens. In the 80 years since its first issue, it has helped people across the world make better homes, better gardens, and better lives.

The magazine’s first issue appeared in 1922 under the name Fruit, Garden, and Home. It was a combination of seed magazine, recipe book, and home design idea box. Readers could order seeds and read better ways to grow them.  They could read and submit recipes. This led to a very successful recipe contest in 1923, a tradition which continues today. They would also publish home floorplans and show photos and sketches of featured homes, which helped readers dream up better places to live for themselves.

The magazine changed its name in 1924, and though it has modernized and kept up with current trends, the quality it delivers is still second-to-none. These days, readers are kept abreast of updated technology, including organic pesticides and cutting-edge garden supplies. They can dream up a tranquil garden design for even the smallest of urban spaces.
